2020 Recap: Source of Hope Food Pantry

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:3-5

The year, 2020, was a year to remember, or perhaps forget! We faced trials, which seemed like setbacks, but only opportunities for God to reveal himself even more! His goodness and mercy truly does follow those who are in Him. (Psalm 23:6) For that we are grateful!

Here are a few highlights:

  • The Food Pantry continued to assist multiple families each week of 2020. We saw amazing amounts of donations roll in throughout the year. Between food drives, the stewardship of our community, and church and community volunteers, we had another extremely successful year.

  • During the course of the year, we assisted over 950 individuals. Through donations and our amazing volunteers, not only were we able to serve individuals and families, but we were also able to sow into several other ministries and organizations, such as Dare Challenge.

  • We were able to bless our friends at Bay Tree, a senior community in Manteo, with food bags. Our monthly visits were limited as the coronavirus lurked in the shadows. However, the pantry volunteers donned their masks to deliver their food every 4th Tuesday of each month nonetheless, taking extra trips when there was abundant fruit available. We were also able to bless Bay Tree with meals prepared by Source of Soup Soup Kitchen and a little Christmas surprise at the end of the year.

  • The Source of Hope Soup Kitchen is a group of volunteers that use the abundance from the Source of Hope Food Pantry to create meals for families and the community.
